***SECOND ROUND OF FUNDING***
Our central aim is to create an appeal for the famine in East Africa that succesfully engages people with the crisis, raising awareness and donations.
Standard chariable appeals that use brutal images and stories, turn the majority of us away from disasters, causing a sense of guilt and numbness.
We believe we've found a much more powerful solution for re-connecting people with those suffering, by bringing together psychology, art and innovation.
All donations will go to Save The Children, who from our research are the most effective aid agency for children in the area.
People care about a crisis like the famine, but most of us do nothing. The key then is to re-engage them and for that we are using one of the most cutting edge formats for conveying information. We're calling it an "Animated Appeal", which consists of a spoken narrative whose concepts are illustrated visually. It's best explained by this simple example.
For the spoken narrative, we have built a message around the most recent psychological research in charitable giving. For the visual side, we are looking to take this medium to the next level, by using an African illustrator and our London animator. Click the links for their respective portfolios:
The result will be something that engages the viewer on an intellectual and emotional level by bringing together psychology, art and technology. We believe this creative an innovative approach to fundraising is unprecedented.
In recent years, we’ve begun to see what can happen if we get together on the Internet. It remains the most incredible tool for mobilizing action. Connectivity is power, and we believe the Internet still has a much greater potential to drive positive change across the planet.
Media like Facebook and Twitter are going to give the appeal a potential to reach huge audiences and helping us make this happen are one of the world’s leading Digital Agencies, Lost Boys International.
From the beginning they’ve been advising us on the logistical and creative aspects of the campaign, and there professional expertise will make sure the appeal gets maximum exposure.
We’re now ready to go and now all we need is your help.
Initially we wanted the project to be zero budget but this has proven impossible. We now £4000 is what we need to make the Animated Appeal. All the money will go on production costs, which are going to paying the animator and illustrator who are putting in weeks of effort at a discounted rate.
We are going to need people to want to share the video, and guaranting a quality production will be essential to this. So please give what you can spare, in the hope that together we can invest £4000 into an appeal that can help save the lives of the 2 million children.
Thank you
