The Library is a short story, written by Gyula Kazári in 1992. The story won a special price at the National Short Story Contest in 1997 in Budapest, Hungary. The original Hungarian text later has been translated to English and Dutch and now we are planning to adopt it to film.
The story is about a young woman who finds an old library building. Entering the building she is suprised to see there are still books on the shelves. She walks into the dark library maze when she hears noises... suddenly a dwarf is standing right in front of her... he lives in the desolated building... he tells her that there are lives in those books that he is guarding... they are being written continously... a black ink writes inside the books. He does not want to show the young woman her book.... but she goes to find it anyway...

There are only three characters in the story, which will be less than ten minutes long in English.
We are planning to use only uncompressed video footage in this production to have the best possible image quality. We will shoot in a desolated library building in Belgium but we have to use a lot of visual effects as well becouse it is really hard to find a library, that has labyrinth-like shelves, plus we need some fog, snow, other elements as well. The edited film be graded later to look like a real cinema. Classical music is composed for the film, voiceover and sound will be recorded at location but we will do dubbing later in studio.

This is the first time this team of creative people are working together on a common project: an artist, a director, a VFX guru, a photographer, a writer, an animator, a teacher, a musician and a stylist and of course our talented actress and actors, they all contrubite with their talent to one main goal: to create a few minutes motion picture.
We have more short stories in Gyula's 'drawer'. Just like The Library, laying deep on dusty papers; the ink of the typewriter starting to fade on them.
We really want to make more short films in the future - if our supporters wants that and if we reach our fund - we promise, we will make more. It's now a little bit all depends on the success of our first crowd-funded short movie project: The Library.
Whatever it turns out it will be an interesting experience anyway for all of us.
We have plans to send this film to several film festivals once is out.
Please take a look at the very special rewards on the right side of this page that we give to our supporters.
Help us make this film, even, be a part of it and lets make this movie together.
If you have any questions you can always reach us on our Facebook page, via Twitter or email.
The Library - The book, illustrated by Loreta Visic
Our backers receive this beautiful book with the story of The Library as a type of a comic or storyboard with a high end artistic touch by Loreta Visic. Here are a few samples of the drawings, which are only sketches at this moment. The book will be available once the film is out.

We would like to thank all of you again in supporting The Library project.
Some people left our crew so we had to find new members to make our team complete.
We are rewriting the script; we made it a bit longer and included some more exciting elements in it.
We will shoot the film soon in two different locations (for outside and inside scenes) and later
we will edit it and grade it to have a cinematic look we want.
We might spare on visual effects, this way we can make the film with the limited budget.
Nevertheless we will give you an interesting and visually appealing story, a high quality motion picture.
All backers will receive a DVD and those few who paid more also receives the Library book.
Your name will also appear at the end of the film in the credit list as a supporter.
The book and the soundtrack CD will be available to purchase once the movie is out via online retailers and of course the film will be sent to film festivals...
We would also like to thank Sponsume for their help. It has a very supportive team and they have a great and easy-to-use platform to help creative people.
We will not update our project here on Sponsume anymore but move over to Twitter (@TheLibraryMovie) and Facebook. (fb.com/TheLibraryMovie)
So see you there!
The Library team
Our campaign has ended here on Sponsume. Crowd funding is a new an exciting way to finance a movie and gather fans, supporters but it is new for us and we defenetely have a lot to learn. We would like to thank all the backers and supporters for their support in making the short film. We will keep you informed about the project.
The Library Movie crew
Loreta, our art director has made already tons of illustrations, paintings and drawings. You can check out her work here: http://loretavisic.com.
This week she has started to design the book for The Library, which we will give to our supporters - and later the book will have its own life (next to the film)
The illustrated book will have drawings in it from the beginning to the end of the story.
Loreta is using photographs (for anatomy purposes) that later she prints out and draws on them with a black ink using a projector.
The book will have a mixture of comics & storyboard-type style with a high end artistic touch...and....of course....with a black ink....going through all the pages...til the end...
Some of these work-photographs that will be used for the illustrations were already made last week and we posted a few on our facebook page: http://fb.com/TheLibraryMovie
(We will post on Facebook all these work-photos in batches as we proceed with the project. So keep on checking the page and click on LIKE to have the poster for free.)
We have finished designing the poster for the film.
You can see a small version of it on the project's page.
The high resolution version is available for free to those who LIKE our page on Facebook (http://fb.com/TheLibraryMovie)
After clicking on LIKE, you will see automatically the download link
behind The Library icon at the top.
(if you don't find it msg us and we will give you the link)
The print size of the poster is 80x50 cm.
Enjoy it!
