J, D and Coke

4FRONT Performance Company are putting on a rehearsed play reading of J,D and Coke on Saturday 31st of March 2012. The play was first done as a showcase for one night only in 2009 at the Lincoln Drill Hall and sold out! Since that time we have been developing as artists and as a company and we now feel it is time to develop J,D and Coke further and bring it to a national audience.

The reading is taking place at the Lincoln Drill Hall, who are also backing the project by providing space and sending out personal invitations to other people in the theatre industry.

This is an exclusive event which is part our Research and Development of J,D and Coke. We are inviting potential venue managers/producers/programmers to the reading to give them a chance to see the play at this early stage and to think about having it at their venues for a planned national tour beginning late 2012 and throughout 2013.

So, what is J,D and Coke about...

In the late 1970's, cocaine culture grew in nightclubs and party scenes across the UK. 'Coke' was imported and supplied by organised crime gangs who glamorized the seedy underworld in which they operated. The flamboyant society in which the drugs flourished were ignorant to the violence, intimidation and murder carried out by organised criminals to supply the demand. As the battle on drugs intensified, the stakes grew higher for both the police and the criminals involved.
Over the period of one night in a disused warehouse, a hostage, a gangster and a new recruit will all have to make choices which could either keep them alive or ultimately seal their doom.
J, D and Coke, is a dark comedy thriller, which explores the choices we can make when under extreme stress and the consequences of those actions.
