IT'S NOT POLITICAL

New York, US
FUNDED

In our first overseas co-production, Built for Collapse (New York) teams up with London-based physical theatre partnership, Fragility, to present IT'S NOT POLITICAL.

Meet the icons of the social media revolution and follow them through glory and persecution as they use words and information to fight for justice around the globe. IT'S NOT POLITICAL is a collective living biography that chronicles the efforts of Julian Assange, Aaron Swartz, Edward Snowden, and the many faceless leaders of "Occupy" movements in Turkey, New York and around the world.

Through research, development and performances in London, Prague and NYC, Built for Collapse and Fragility will explore modern social activism and its relationship to world power structures and class systems. Broadening our own global perspective through cross-cultural collaboration, we will use live performance to engage audiences in conversation about the future of our generation and the power of the collective voice.

It's not political though.

THE REALITY OF A PROJECT OVERSEAS

A project overseas needs funding. In this case, we're asking for help to cover:

Airfares, accomodation, marketing, travel around cities, feeding us, props, scenery and space hire.

IN return we promise to make a brilliant piece of theatre that, after performances in the US over the end of 2013, will travel back into the UK and Europe in 2014 to brighten up an artistic space near to you!

About Fragility

Fragility was founded in 2012 by James Grice and Andrew Silverwood, whilst in their final year at Rose Bruford. The partnership was joined in 2013 by Jasmine Macintosh.

In two years we have produced five bodies of biographical and autobiographical physical and movement based theatre for audiences ranging from children to teens to adults, and of all races and sexualities.

We have pieces about being gay, about growing up, about a 20 somethings love life, about parents divorcing about jobs you hate. Something for everyone.

We have produced work in the UK, The Czech Republic and Sweden and have collected a number of great responses along the way.

You can read about our performances at www.fragility.co.uk

You can see sample videos on Vimeo.

You can also learn more about us through social media.

Find us on Twitter, Facebook and Vine (if you're viewing this from a smart phone)

If you're curious about Built For Collapse, you can visit their Website, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages too.

In the video above you can see some clips from both our companies, as well as some clips which are not intended to break copyright. If you think they do, simply email info@fragility.co.uk to tell us, and we'll sort it out.

Where we are at | The Visa Panic | The last two weeks
Posted: Thursday, 05 September, 2013 - 15:09

We are in to the last ten days of our crowd funding and the realities of the project are starting to hit in.

We need some BIG support.

Visas are currently at nearly £600 per person. Our flights will cost oly £400 due to our suave negotiation techniques, but our current total is very much less than we want it to be.

Since the project launch, we have once more proved ourselves to be serious performane makers with a sell out show at Stockholm Fringe. We really want this project to work, but are coming to terms with the reality that we may need to postpone it by a couple of months to make it happen to the best of our ability.

There's no way of justifying three of us going to New York to build something that could be a thousand times more stable with a couple of months of wait.

But we aren't quitters, and we still have 10 days to get £3400 and see this project run jump and fly across the Atlantic, and with your help we can do it!
