Family vs Ambition. Love vs Duty. Chekhov vs Chicken Feet?

A never-before-seen 16-week educational workshop and work experience programme for young people working with film professionals, in Northamptonshire, the East Midlands and beyond, aimed at encouraging engagement with Learning, Literacy and Livelihoods working towards the production of a cinema-bound feature film: family comedy 'Fortune Cookies' from new writer/director Brenda Lee. We've just received support from Elstree Studios, which is very very exciting!

'Fortune Cookies' is a quirky British comedy centred around the heart of a Chinese family, where tradition and modernity clash. While the eccentric family may not always see eye to eye, they know they will always have each other. (Probably because no-one else would put up with them.)

Susan Lee is troubled. She dreams of being an actress, while her family dream of appearing on their favourite gameshow Les Dennis’ 'Fame To Fortune'. So what should Susan do when the Lees win an opportunity to appear on the show - their only chance to save their takeaway from loansharks - on the same night as her stage debut?

This film is about family, love and the important choices we make. Throw in fried rice, fish and chips, and a TV gameshow and you have the perfect ingredients for a night at the cinema.

Set to star Elaine Tan (Starter for Ten), David Yip (Chinese Detective), Pik Sen Lim (Doctor Who), Ozzie Yue (Father Ted), Meline Danielewicz (Trevor Nunn's The Tempest), Jason Wong (Missing) and Les Dennis (Ricky Gervais' Extras) amongst others!

You will be given a choice of dates in various locations, likely to be Northamptonshire and London. You must be 16yrs+ or accompanied by a paying adult (sorry!) or with 2+ under-16yrs we will allow an accompanying adult for free.
