Friends, Family and everyone we know and hold dear, and then some ;)
It’s Martin McCann here, we are on the cusp of getting our wee film up and running and with your help, it will become a reality. We have so many things in place already, our cast, locations, costume, make up and most of the crew - we just don’t have the money to feed them, put them up and take them from home to set and back again. The small, but most important things really. It's these small things that, no matter what we get for free in terms of cast or crew, that need to be paid for - Petrol, food, van hire for the lights, and mini bus for cast etc. And over a three week period, it all adds up!
The film is called ‘Fishbowl City’ and its essentially a story about two brothers, one takes the high road, the other the low road and they meet somewhere in the middle. It’s of course set in our home town of Belfast. The cast, crew and everyone in between are friends that have come together to make it a reality. From the director to the runner, we are all doing this for the ‘love’, and ‘with a little help from our friends’, it will happen.
The film will be directed by Richard Scobie, produced by Edwina Forkin, Zanzibar Films written by myself, Martin McCann and the cast inculdes, John Travers (Song For A Reggea Boy), Martin McCann (The Pacific), Ciaran Nolan (Man About Dog) and Terry Keeley (Titanic Blood and Steel).
Fishbowl City’ is a dark comedy, filled with hope, danger, and most of all, love for ones friends and family. We aim to portray a real slice of life in Belfast with this young ensemble cast of characters.
We want to get this film out and into film festivals and to tell this wee story. Every donation, no matter how small, will make it happen. We have been promised by Northern Ireland Screen what ever we raise through ‘crowd source funding’, they would match; if we raise £5,000, it’ll become £10,000. We have whittled the costs down to just under £10,000, so if we hit our target of £5,000 on ‘sponsume’, we’ve done it.
For those that donate, we are giving them back rewards to say thank you for your kind donations. Signed DVD’s, name on the credits, featured in the film (no lines to speak so don't worry) and even a producer credit etc all subject to donated amounts. Everyone that donates will get a facebook or e mail invite to the wrap party, after all, it wouldn't have happened without you.
Also, help us spread the word. We will only reach our goals if enough people become aware of the film and of this campaign.
