"The Conversation" is the story of a man who has lost everything due to the economic collapse of the mid 2000s. Once a successful financial planner, he now lives unemployed and is forced to watch his family fall deeper and deeper into poverty. He can see no end in sight. But when things are nearest their worst, a stranger appears in the man's life and makes him an offer. The stranger offers to alleviate all of his family's problems and, what's more, to give them a large sum of money so they can not only get back on their feet, but prosper as well. The gift that would save his family comes at what seems too high a cost and the man is left to contemplate his life and how he may best help his family in their situation.
