Communion

London, United Kingdom
FUNDED

COMMUNION is the fourth feature film from award winning and critically acclaimed director Greg Hall whose previous work has garnered a reputation as raw, cutting edge, relevant British cinema in the shape of feature films The Plague (2004), Kapital (2007) and SSDD: Same Shit Different Day (2010).

Following the very recent success of short film BRUISED (2012), the creative collective Broke But Making Films return with another potential gem of stand out independent cinema in COMMUNION, written by Paul Stevens & Greg Hall and produced by Becky Finlay-Hall.

This exciting new project shares many of the previous films qualities with real life character based drama and a gritty cinema verite style. COMMUNION is a road movie unlike anything you've seen before, a complex thriller set in the deep dark depths of the British countryside.

Actor Paul Marlon - recent recipent Best Actor (Short Film) Award for BRUISED (Bootleg Film Festival - Toronto 2012) - is set to play lead character Father Clemence who through a process of losing his faith has taken to executing his own form of vigilante justice. Along this journey he is joined by Maria (Ana Gonzalez Bello), a hitch hiking fiery punk who is fleeing her hometown of Mexico City. Together this odd couple will embark on a roller coaster of adventures that is at times both violent, dark, scary, real, funny and heart warming.

Over the eight weeks of crowd funding we will be uploading a new video every friday that gives an insight into our unique creative process and brings to life the world of COMMUNION. The team has a strong reputation in delivering raw hard hitting drama that has picked up awards and acclaim on shoe string budgets. We urge you to check out our previous work and proven track record.

Be a part of the team and help make this project happen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Same Shit Different Day (MMDD: Misma mierda, diferente día, 2010).

Te invitamos a revisar nuestro trabajo previo y nuestra comprobada trayectoria. Sé parte del equipo y ayuda a que este proyecto se concrete.

Final Week!!
Posted: Friday, 03 August, 2012 - 09:08

Hello everyone,

Well we only have 8 Days Left of our campaign! Please watch and enjoy our final promo video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66eQu1pxhGw

What a journey we have had! And now is our most important week! We need to raise as much money as possible so we can achieve our target. Whatever money we do get we will be shooting on but we would love - with your help - to achieve our goal.

To everyone that has funded us so far and to all our new funders - a massive heartfelt THANK YOU! It really means the world that you have become part of the team to make this unique piece of cinema happen. What we need from you now is in this final week to sing from the rooftops your involvement with the film! If you can all help get one or two friends or family to buy a DVD and Premiere Tickets in the next couple of days that will have a massive impact!

If you are reading this on the Sponsume site and you have not yet purchased a package then please make today the day that you support independent british cinema.

Once again THANK YOU to everyone that is supporting us. With your help we can really make this happen.

8 Days To Go!!!

Much Love,

Greg, Becky & Paul Xx

Week Six

Hello to all our wonderful backers and hopeful future backers of COMMUNION!

As promised each week we have a promo video for you to view to see our progress with the project and this week is extra special! We would like to introduce to you the band who are producing the score for the film - the amazingly talented 52 Commercial Road - and to mark this special occassion we have produced a music video for their track "Kadmar" off their second album "A Wreck Makes An Excellent Foundation". The music video is shot and edited by myself so as well as hearing their amazing music you also get a more detailed taste of my film making skills!!

Please enjoy watching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdURkrZ1lpY

And we highly recommend listening to the album which can be heard (and purchased!) here: http://52commercialroad1.bandcamp.com/

They will unquestionably produce an amazing score and we are really pleased to have them on board with the project which is really shaping up. We have spent a few more days working with our main actors Paul Marlon and Ana Gonzalez Bello on building up their characters, I am so excited to unleash Father Clemence and Maria onto an audience, we enter full rehearsals in a couple of days where we will be devising large parts of the script so I look forward to updating you all with a teaser of how that goes!

Well we only have 15 Days Left!! And we still need to raise two thirds of the budget. This is not impossible. Firstly thank you to everyone that has sponsored us - it really means so much - and at the end of the day whatever amount we raise we will make the film on that! Our track record proves we deliver outstanding and cutting edge cinema. But in the final two weeks we really want to make a big push and try and raise as much money as possible to make sure we are not compromising during the production of the film. We really can reach our goal of 15,000 but we do need your help. If everyone who has backed us so far can get at least one more person to invest then we will be a lot closer to our target. So speak to friends and family, let them know about the project you have invested in, that you are part of, and get them onboard with a £15 Credit/DVD Package or £30 Credit/DVD/Premiere Ticket Package so they can be part of making independent cinema in the uk happen.

And to everyone reading this who has not yet invested and is thinking about it... well please make that decision and come onboard today. We can not reach our target with out you supporting us. Every person that clicks through and purchases a package is making the film become more of a reality. Don't miss out! Our previous work shows that we are the one's to watch in the UK Independent Film scene - so come onboard and be part of making something special happen!

Thanks,

Greg x

To All Our Lovely Backers & Potential Future Backers,

Here is our latest update for you all to enjoy, we had our first day of rehearsals this week and wasted no time in delving into the deep psychological world of our two main characters, we do hope you enjoy sharing the film making process, watching it unfurl each week with our videos!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTA39JwK-Pc

We have 22 days left and we still have £10,000 to raise so we really do urge you to share the details of our campaign with as many people as possible…. We have only a short time left but it isn’t impossible. Just imagine the feeling of watching the film in a cinema or seeing the DVD on a shop shelf and knowing you made that happen, it is a rare but wonderful achievement.

Also a big thank you to all those who created a great turn out for our screening last night at The Portobello Pop Up Cinema, it was a great night and a great Q&A session.

Anyway please do enjoy this weeks offering and again a big big thank you from the heart, you have absolutely no idea how happy and touched we all are with each donation.

Much Love
Becky xx

Week Four
Posted: Friday, 13 July, 2012 - 01:07

Happy FRIDAY 13TH!!

Enjoy the TEASER TRAILER for COMMUNION: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBJ9y8rYVJc

We are exactly halfway through the duration of our crowd funding campaign and that's why we wanted to deliver a Teaser Trailer to introduce the main character of Father Clemence. Please watch, email to friends, share it through social networks and most importantly - enjoy! The campaign is now going to step up a gear, we only have four weeks left to raise awareness of the film and to secure the financing, so the next few promotional videos will give you more of an insight into the actors working together, the band scoring the music and the general process of devising the piece.

To everyone who has backed the film and become part of the team - thank you so much! We are so grateful for your support and very happy that you have come onboard with us. Enjoy watching the creation of a film you made happen! And in the meantime please tell your friends about the film you have helped finance. We need to get more people onboard so we can reach our target!

To all those who are still considering backing the project please take the time to watch our teaser trailer, the promotional videos for the project and our previous work. If you are impressed and want to be part of making this happen then please purchase a package and join the team.

Thank you everyone for the support. If you are in London on Thursday 19th July please come to our screening at the Portobello Pop Up Cinema 7:30pm and pick up a free BBMF Goody Bag.

Big Love Greg x

P.S. The full 15 minute interview of myself, Paul and Becky on Dissident Island Radio is also now online: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXjnFOUUtQA

Hello friends and supporters of BBMF,

Paul here, just a few words to say thanks as always for the liking, sharing and following us through all the networks, please keep up the good work and of course to keep you in the loop about what’s happening.

We are fresh off the set of the teaser trailer for ‘Communion’ which will be released on FRIDAY 13TH for your pleasure, it’s looking good and we hope you will enjoy it. Please check out (and share) this weeks video update with Producer Becky Finlay-Hall:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYQaekn-FV8

The campaign itself has slowed down and we really need the people who are saying they will come on board and be backers to click that link and buy their copy of the film. So if that’s you? Or someone you know? Please no more “oh yeah I’ll do it later” just come on board and be part of BBMF today!! We have 36 days left and really need your support today.

To all of our wonderful backers please keep spreading the word! This is technically your film so please encourage friends and family to get involved and help make your film happen. All the support in sharing the sponsume link and personally telling people about the project is fantastic!

In other news don’t forget the screening of our last Award Winning Feature Film 'SSDD: Same Shit Different Day' and our Award Winning Short 'Bruised' in London on Thursday 19th July 7.30pm (Portobello Pop Up) and tonight (Friday 6th July) Greg, Becky and me will be live on Dissident Island Radio (http://www.dissidentisland.org) speaking about the film sometime after 9pm.

Lots of Love

Week Two
Posted: Friday, 29 June, 2012 - 16:06

Hello Lovely People,

A Big Big Thank You to all our new backers who have come on board in the last week, we really do appreciate your help in making this film a reality and welcome to the ever growing team....70 and counting!

As an important part of our team we have promised to keep you updated with developments every Friday so please find our latest video installment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUiJ_WILMIk. Here you will get a chance to meet our two main actors and see them at the beginning of their creative journey and hopefully you will, over the weeks, enjoy seeing their characters come to life.

This crowd funding campaign is a new adventure for us and we are learning as we go...what I have really begun to realise is if we are going to succeed we need to embrace and encourage the 'pay it forward' idea, if each of you our lovely backers gets two of your friends who love cinema to buy a DVD we really have a chance of raising the amount we need to make a new independent piece of British Cinema. So please spread the word, get a friend to join the team or even buy it as an interesting/alternative birthday/anniversary gift!!!

Also if you are free and in London on Thursday 19th July at 7.30pm, come and join us all at a screening of our last Award Winning Feature Film 'SSDD: Same Shit Different Day' and our Award Winning Short 'Bruised', Greg is taking part in a Q&A following the screening. It's at the Pop Up Cinema on 3 Acklam Road W10 5TY (Under the Westway on the corner of Portobello Road). We would love to see as many friendly faces in the audience and we have lots of Goddie bags to give away.

Much Love & Once again Thank you for your generous support,

Becky Xx

Becky Xx
