Director Stephen Guy Daltry: "I have long wanted to make a film set in the English seaside, that features the old, the young, and the eccentric at play; that uses minimal dialogue and is also musical. I was inspired to make a film that harks back to the black and white films of old - though this is shot in colour. The great French director Jacques Tati has always been an inspiration to me. The Accordionist is a love story that I hope transcends different cultures, that is poignant at times, and laugh out loud funny at others. I set out to make something pure with no gimmicks. I hope that it will bring a lot of joy to alot of people, whatever their age.
We have finished the film but really need some financial help in getting it to festivals, producing press packs and promoting it. We have been blessed by the contributions of so many people - and animals! The Accordionist was shot at Hove, in London and on the Solent. It features West End actor/dancer/singer Emma Chrispin, ('Follies', 'Anything Goes', 'The Producers') and Crispin Harris ('Simon Sweetcheeks', Skins, CH4), Jennifer Oscard, Asa Joel, Jamie Chrispin and other actors from the company Golden Theatre (www.goldentheatre.co.uk) that made an enormous contribution to the making of this film. I do hope the project grabs your interest."
The film and the trailer was shot by cinematographer Arti Mirwani-Daltry (also co-producer) and it was edited by the talented and experienced Jon Walker. (Editor of 'The Secret Life of Ice" for BBC, 'By Any Means' with Charley Boorman, 'Birth of Britain', and many more) and assistant-directed by writer/director/actor Chloe Austin. ('The Virgin Monologues')
